I’ve just finished another cute little baby cardigan. This one is Baby Tea Leaves.
This one is for the daughter of someone I work with. I have a huge amount of respect for him and his wife. Part of the way through the pregnancy they found out that their baby has Down’s Syndrome. I have been left in awe by the calm and joyful way they’ve approached the challenges facing them with the pregnancy (which was a difficult one) and their new little girl.
The pattern is by Melissa La Barre, and it’s a fantastic top-down cardigan (which I much prefer to bottom up, particularly for baby knits). The ruched effect on the yoke is achieved by a mix of changed needle sizes and some clever increases. As always, the yarn is Baby Cashmerino, and the buttons are from Textile Garden. For once, I made it with no modifications, except to make the button bands a little wider to better match the size of the buttons.
